...its shortcomings this weekend in Joliet. Does .15 sound like a good number for the disparity this weekend?

The real joke is that the blown cars can't run the numbers they ran four years ago !!!!! So lets talk about kicking the a-fuel guys in the butt again like the last four years. I'm sure all you armchair racers can figure out a way.

    Federal-Mogul Dragster

    Results for Elimination Round 3

MOHNTON, Pa. - SUMMIT FastNews - Results of round 3 eliminations in Federal-Mogul Dragster at the 17th annual Pep Boys NHRA Nationals presented by Greased Lightning:
    W/L Driver RT ET Speed

    (W) Mark Hentges (Air Time Aviation B/AD) 0.494 5.312 264.44
    (L) Steve Cantrell (Cantrell Racing B/AD) 0.484 9.864 78.03

2:28 PM Cantrell left first, but his rear tires shook and the car skated around, getting very sideways before he shut it down. Hentges drove through light shake to his best run of the weekend.
    (W) Rick Santos (Oakwood Homes B/AD) 0.464 5.293 265.48
    (L) Bill Reichert (Lane Automotive A/FD) 0.484 5.328 264.70

First, Santos needed to win to be able to block Hentges from winning the event. Second, he needed to run a 5.330 to back up his 5.278 from last round as a national record. he accomplished both objectives, but Reichert has nothing to be ashamed of, making a very good run of his own in pursuit of the very best in the country for the past few years. Santos has lane choice against Hentges in the finals.

-2001 was a long time ago.

Conway /howard tried for years to make the blown car competitive . with no help from N.H.R.A .DO You think he would be sitting where he is with the blown car? I bet he sand bagged all those years with the blown car. Hats off to the blown guy made to switch and make all the a/f people who bitched about he &shelly look clueless

Funny how facts just seem to get in the way in this discussion.
By next year it wan't really matter much as there will be so few good blown cars left it will just be a wimper when their voices are raised. Better watch out what you wish for Lee. Nhra might give you what you are asking for only after you have spent all the money to switch!

Hawk, No matter How few Blown cars are left NHRA will try to make them competitive! If they have to let them run 540 CI at 125% blower, OK that's extreme! You get my point.

Darren what is the NHRA doing right now to save the BAD's.

Where are you in a dream.

Good thing Steve Federlin is in a division where there are four times as many blown cars as A/Fuel dragsters or he would be no where in sight of the point lead.

Zone, Why did they put the 98% in play then? If NHRA didn't care about keeping the Blown cars competitive. They would have left the A-Fuel cars alone. Or Am I missunderstanding your post?

How has that helped the BADs. To help the BADs they have to give them something to go quicker, not handicap the other car.

The changes they seem to like to do are a temporary bandaid

    Dean,

Is there anything available to the BAD guys that will allow them to go quicker without increasing the chances of an oildown? I think that is NHRA's question. At Joliet last weekend, there were like 12 oildowns in the first two sessions of alcohol qualifying.

Bull, How many of the oildowns were by A-Fuel cars? I havn't seen an A-Fuel car oil the track down all year. NHRA's solution to the oil down problem last year was to make the A-Fuel cars who were not oiling the track down put the rear belly pan on. Correct me if I am wrong but the biggest violaters, the TAFC's were not required to run them. Did that make a lot of since? Put a 9000 rpm rev limiter on the blown cars and it would probably stop most of the oil downs.

Yer right hawk it would probably stop the oil downs and would slow them down another tenth or more. Good Idea. The BAD's now have a belly pan as well on them. It is a good idea.
Also I think the gizmo or a possibility of more overdrive and bigger CU.IN could drop RPMs (I say could don't know for sure though).
NHRA has created the problem and there bandaid solutions are not helping so far.
