Has anyone ever drilled and re-tapped a 1/2" top row of stud holes for 9/16" studs in a KB block for fat heads? How did you do it (i.e. drill jig, mill, honing fixture, etc) to ensure 90 degrees?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    My stuff is BBC's.

I've heli-coiled older Mark IV blocks in the dowel stud hole. I made a simple drilling fixture to ensure straightness and than one for tapping, to ensure straightness.

We've done similiar for adding head bolts with extreme success.

My thought on going from 1/2 to 9/16 is that it will be close. The max. diameter on the 1/2 is basically 1/2. And the drill size for 9/16 is basically 1/2. It would probably work
