TAFC racer Paul Anderson to go to jail

FIRESTONE, Colo. - While there is a chance for a reprieve, defending NHRA Division 5 Top Alcohol Funny Car Champion Paul Anderson is scheduled to go to jail this Thursday, May 15. Anderson has committed no crime, rather he is participating in the Adams County MDA Lock Up to help raise money for "Jerry's Kids." If Anderson does not raise $1,300 by Thursday, he will sit in jail until he has raised his commitment.

Anderson, 23, from Firestone, Colo., is looking for support from the racing community to keep him out of jail and raise money for a good cause.

"This is just a small way we can give back," said Anderson. "Hopefully we can not only raise some money for the MDA and Jerry's Kids, but also raise awareness. These kids need our help. I will also send everyone that contributes at least $30 a Paul Anderson Racing T-Shirt."

"Of course, this may be one way the competition tries to keep me off the track," Anderson joked.

MDA serves people in communities across the nation with neuromuscular disease by providing clinics, support groups, assistance with the purchase and repair of wheelchairs, braces and communication devices, and summer camp for kids. MDA also funds research grants to help find treatments and cures for some 43 neuromuscular diseases that affect people of all ages.
