    Great run! Almost unbelievable.

I thought there was nothing left in it... unless the Gainesville interview was an April fools joke...

Or, I forgot it must have been the real hard work after Gainesville...

Either way great run and great for the class.

I just cannot believe the blown cars haven't hit 280.

Maybe next week now that baseball has started.

mitch meyers now "just a legend"

in hi own mind that is. now we don't have to hear how he "still " holds the record or just "set the record and left the rest of us to just pay to watch ourselves on espn "

Hail Hail the King is Dead!:D

all kidding aside, awesome runs. Great job Reicherts and team!!!:)

    Big Difference !!!!

There is a big difference between Mitch's run which I also observed and Bll's run at Houston. Mitch set the record on 100 % and Bill broke it on 97%.
Also think the adjusted altitued was better in Pomona. Both were made at about the same time of the day.

I'm sure the % meens alot, but you have to be one hell of an engine builder and tuner too,;) I don't think you just pour it out of the can and go fast. other wize all the greenhorns would be going fast too. :D

So if it ran 5.10 @ 96.5% perhaps NHRA could pull back the A/FD percentage to 95% and A/FD cars could still run 5.20's so that BAD cars could still be competitive? Whats wrong with that scenario?

I usually don't bother arguing with confused people, but someone needs to right the ship here.

Just because the other AFD's can't run...oh wait. Yeah, Boggs "only" went 5.12 in Pomona and Meyer "only" went 5.17 twice in Gainesville.

But, those runs don't really figure into the argument anyway. The following does:

    Best runs of '07 -
AFD (Apples to Apples) - 5.10
TAD (Apples to Apples) - 5.28

All AFDs run under the same set of rules just as all TADs (PSI cars at least) run under the same set of rules. Therefore, all AFDs have the opportunity to run 5.10 (or better) and all TADs have the opportunity to run 5.28 (or better). That is a .18 difference; how do you not understand that logic? You seem to love bringing up Alan Johnson versus the rest of the TF field; how can you not see the faulty logic in that?

Nothing wrong with that scenario. Consider it done.

    Like your thinking.

I my self thing that if they put the % at 90 that some of the A/F teams will still get in the 5.20s or faster. it might take them a little while to do it but some of the Teams are just that good Congrat Bill and team one heck of a weekend.

Bill you are the best. The blown guys are lucky you are not running that combination. They probably wouldn't have anything to complain about if you were. The whole problem is that now there are greater numbers of a-fuel cars and many of the best blown racers have switched. It seems that as many rules as NHRA has thrown at the fuel cars they find a way to come up with the same performance numbers while the blown dragsters are still running the same numbers as five or six years ago. They are about the only catagory of cars in NHRA competetion that have not seen improvment for that period of time. The funny car guys seem to keep improving, hard to figure. I don't think it is the quickest blown cars that are complaining. They seem to think they will get quicker when they have the right combination figured out with the new od rule. Maybe it is time to reingerize TARA so that the people envolved who know the problems can come to a rational conclusion concerning the problems confronting TAD.
