This Pro Mod car in this video that was posted in the "On Board Camera" section on here has a Really cool looking LED RPM light that go from One then Two "White lights- low staging rpm" on the left side of the light, to Four "Blue lights-correct staging rpm " then Two more lights to the right side for "Red lights-over staging rpm" And then it looks like it even has all eight of then light up Red for the shift point, which didn't go as plan for this run.
Ok I'm impressed and would love to know who makes this little cool idea? Can anybody here shead some light on this for me. :)

Need Mike Canter to confirm, but I believe that this is a feature on the MSD 8973.....

I was trying to get Will to stand in for me over Thanksgiving (lol)

That is not a MSD 8973 in the video but yes the 8973 can be hooked up to a shift light so that it will tell you the correct launch rpm window. You can set a low and a high rpm to create a launch window. When the rpm is within these two values, a launch light will be activated and be on steady. If the rpm is below the low value, the light will stay off. If the rpm goes above the value, the light will flash.

    RPM Light?

    Hey Mike!

Thanks for replying about the 8973 but do you got any idea on what they are using? I looked at the racepak lights and msd lights and can't find anything. Do you just go and get a off the shelf muilt colored led light that can do what I'm seeing here?
It looks a bit more complex than just a low and high rpm window, it is lighting up in a ramping mode two lights at lower rpm and then ramping two at higher rpm values? and then kicking on the middle four for correct staging, that ones easy. And the shift light on all red also easy. I just haven't seen everything this light is doing in one package?

    RPM Light

I know I might be looking at this all wrong, but if this light is doing what I think it's doing, Every super class racer out there should want one of those. Just program it to show top end driving rpm at the finish line and bingo win light light eveytime, Not to much, Not to less.
Hell I just like the staging part of it for my blown motor.:)
At $160.00 buck I'll try one, check out the setting parts pretty neat.
    Thanks for the link TA455.:)

    Lights

It was Andrew Sutton apparently in the ex-Maurice Fabietti's Holden Monaro.

    Launch Light

If you look in the compatabilty area is says that they don't work with Mags or CDI.

May have been custom built for the Pro-Mod.

The problem with using electronics with a mag is not converting the tach signal but the RF interference radiated by the mag. It may or may not work.

They do drive on the left side of the road with the driver on the right ,
The driver is on the left to counteract the torque reaction, Driver=balast :)
we do the same here in England

"Downunder" top speed secret led light yep (couldn't help myself)

Wrong - was speaking to Maurice on Monday

Correct - a Anderson car (don't know what clutch)

I think that you are correct Motec has entered the drag scene over the last few years and started testing on some of the teams.

Correct on the street and hence most sportsman racers

    Correct,
and a lot use USA based cars as well as the Aussie built Leftys. The Brays use right hand cars. Les Winters once told me that he hated the left hand car and would have swapped back.
