It always RAINS in Southern California!

Pomona, CA. - This past weekend's NHRA / POWERADE Drag Racing Series National Event at Pomona Raceway. just outside of Los Angeles was the first Event of the year for the Torco Race Fuels / Top Alcohol Dragster of two time Division 3 Champion Jeff Wilson.

Wilson, from Winfield, Mo., was not very pleased after qualifying 9th with a 5.55 in weather conditions that were only ideal for ducks for the second year in a row. They received one qualifying session Thursday which turned out to be your typical first run of the year. Friday completely rained out which left the Team with only one opportunity to qualify, of which they did. "This was not only our first event of the year, but our first time out since October of last year. We made some hardware changes over the winter and it appears that we have a few gremlins hiding in the valvetrain that need to be hunted down prior to the next event.". stated Wilson. "This is the reason we went to Pomona, so we could get on the track early to get a run a the points. Our goal is to stay in the top 10 all season."

"We are very grateful to have our same Team back from last year, especially a group that works very good together and has the passion for our sport like this Team does. We were able to step it up and fix the motor after our first qualifying session and qualify under pressure because of Teamwork." stated Wilson "We lost in the quarter finals even though we had the starting line advantage. The motor started going away about 800 feet and we lost by a margin of .0175 of a second or a distance of about 6 feet." stated Wilson.

Wilson Racing is already preparing for the next event in Houston in 3 weeks and wants to keep focused on all the positive that they have experienced at the end of last year and also this past weekend. "We were not able to win the the event like we had hoped but we learned a great deal and we will be ready for Houston then Gainesville the following week". stated Wilson.

"We want to take this time to thank all of our sponsors for all their support last year and for returning again this year and we hope to be fortunate enough to put them back in the winners circle again for 2005 and continue building for the future." commented Wilson. (Torco Race Fuels, STARCON, Spitzer Race Cars and Composites, Mickey Thompson Tires, Valvoline, Scott Shop Towels, Abmira Program Design, NGK Spark Plugs, American Colorscans Commercial Graphics, and Scott Mack Designs.) "We are looking forward to 2005 and the opportunity to spend time with our second family, the Wilson Racing TEAM." stated Wilson.
