Epping NH - Duane Shields in the PEAK A/Fuel Dragster had a good outing at the NHRA Lucas Oil Regional event held at New England Dragway. The event was marketed as the "Night of Fire" complete with jet cars and some razzle dazzle so it attracted a lot of spectators. On Friday, the PEAK team along with several other race teams hosted a large group of kids from a local YMCA camp. Duane signed pictures and gave each of the visitors a PEAK racing hat.

As for the car’s performance, other than going a little too aggressive in the first qualifying round the car was back in the ultra competitive five twenty zone. Exactly eight cars showed up for the eight car field and Duane qualified second with a 5.28 at 275 MPH.

In round one of eliminations, Duane took on Dan Mercier. It ended up being a “see ya later” race as Mercier smoked the tires and Duane was on a clean run and stopped the timer with a respectable 5.31at 276 MPH for the win.

In the semifinals, Duane faced Josh Hart. This would be one of the best races of the night but sadly it didn’t turn out as the PEAK team had planned. Both cars left together but Hart had a slightly better ET and took the finish line stripe for the win. Hart ran a 5.23 at 271 MPH to Duane’s valiant 5.27 at 276 MPH. “I’m happy the car is running consistently well but I just can’t seem to get a break which you need to win one of these races. We’ll get another chance next weekend in Atco” Duane said.

Duane would like to thank PEAK Antifreeze and Motor Oil, Final Charge, Blue Def, NGK, GRP and Brad Anderson Enterprises for their ongoing support.
