When machining for a 3/16" O ring on a blower plate, what depth of the cut.. and width of the cut is acceptable without distortion to the plate, when the blower is installed and torqued?
    Thanx,

    3/16 or 1/4

The above groove may be to suit 1/4" o-ring as 3/16 is only 0.1875" and would not be held in the groove.

    O ring

Quoted from the machinery handbook 25 ed: for static O rings less than 1500 psi "In general, except for ring cross section smaller than 1/16 in.,the groove width is aprox 1.5 W, where W is the ring cross sectional diameter." Furthur groove depth shal be aprox 20 percent less than ring cross section diameter W.
