NHRA rule question

    I have read that if Clay Millican and Bruce Litton are in the field, their opponents will get byes runs as their spots will be retained.

    What about the alcohol classes?
    If Bradshaw, Reichert, etc can't make it back for various reasons, does this mean that the 16 car field can have 3 or 4 bye runs (or more)?

    Do the sportsmen follow the same rule as the pros?

    no the sportsmen classes are filled with the alternates page 228 2003 rulebook
