    plugs

RBS & Motorsports Unlimited are both great sources to get plugs. I have also had good luck with Wizards in the past.

A certain vendor who was mentioned in an earlier post is not allowed to post here or even be mentioned here not because he doesn't advertise but because of what he did on the site after I personally asked him not to. I will delete any mention of his name, phone number or email. So please don't post it.

Mike is there another plug besides the 6061 that we can use after we get or tuneup right to save a little money? I think that NGK charges so much because they think we have to run this plug, it looks alot like a regular plug on the outside.

I've been running the NGK R5671A-9 or 10 in my Blown BBC at 40 psi with no plug issues. Pay $2.10 ea.

Ron, no arguement from me but the R5671a-10 is a 5/8 plug and the R6061-10 is a 13/16 socket plug. It depends on how much you push the envelope. If you run a safe tuneup all the time then the R5671 is great. The other thing is that the longer groundstrap of the R5671a is more of a tattletale if you go too much past the safe limit. You can look at the sharp corners of the end of the ground strap and see if they are burned round then you can back off. With the 6061 once you go too far and burn the ground strap you are gone and will probably have to replace a piston. They both read the same.

If you want a cheaper 13/16 NGK then you also have the B9ES and the B10ES. The are really just like the R5671a but use a bigger socket. They read just the same also.

Mike, the Big Chief head that I run, the 5/8 plug is about as large a head as you can get a socket on. I even reduced the outside dia of the 5/8 to make it a little easier. I do like the heads up feature (edges burning)of the R5671A when you get to the edge of tuning.

I have tried to read an Autolite on a blown alky motor and find it impossible. Has anyone had any success in reading them. NGK is a lot easier plug to read. Kevin does that Autolite plug have the super short groundstrap or is it longer than a 6061 but shorter than a 5671? I love Autolite plugs when using nitrous because the have that shorter groundstrap.

    Hi Mike
The Autolite plugs I have are nickel plated, not the black ones, and they have a short wide ground strap that is a touch longer than the NGK 6061.
    Thanks, Kevin.

Yep, those be the ones great for nitrous but I cannot read them for blown alcohol. The plating is too tough to burn off. Doesn't sound right does it, the plug is too good, LOL.
