Tjenna's post in the Agent1320 thread got me thinking about the most amazing alky runs ever; let's start a list - in no order
    Frank Manzo's 5.45 - 2006 (Virginia)
    Bob Newberry's 5.69 - 1994 (Houston)
    Darrell Russell's 5.80 - 1994 (Atlanta)
    Chuck Baird's 5.85 - 1993 (Reading)
    Bill McCornacks 6.11 - 1989 (E-Town)
    Dale Hall's 6.26 - 1985 (Reading)
We have to be able to add some runs from Blaine, Conway, Brad, Randy, Austin, and others.
    Event performances -
    Frank Manzo's string of 5.40's - 2006 (Virginia)
    Ken Perry's and Marty Thacker's string of 5.20's - 2006 (Virginia)

    houston mid 90s

i remember when chuck baird ran the first 5.59 in Houston, couple runs later stark ran a .49

duane shields 5.26 at e town has to stand as one of the all time greats

santos' 5.31 with the gizmo back in phx was pretty impressive, pulled the front end up in high gear.

    conway's 5.79 a few years back..

recently manzo's 5.55 out of the box in atlanta was pretty impressive for the conditions.

    tasca's 5.44 in gville

wasn't there but i remember hearing about gary southern's sci fi numbers in winning indy with the new psi. 6.03?? best.

faria and newb's first runs into the fives...

    didn't randy anderson run a .67 with a roots?

thacker's 3/4 track wheelie 5.36 a few years back at indy...

    shields

i believe duane tuned that car.

the blower seized up during the semifinals...so it must have been a tight one. he borrowed cantrell's blower to finish the race.

Not sure of the year, but when John Speelman (Len C. - Chicken Chokers) ran 6.15 at Maple Grove.

Mike Troxel was running strong for the Championship and John Speelman made some nice runs that weekend.

I remember that race Darrel went 6.41. wasn't it the old Fremont track which was at sea level?

Also remember the PSI debut at Indy. But I thought Gary Southern ran a 6.17 not a 12. It was Dale Smarts Arias/Fontana (now Rhino) powered car. I also remember the mag article written about that portion of that race. Wish I knew the author because it was one of the best alky articles written ever. As Gary Southern would reach the finish line well ahead of his competition, He would hold his arm up and then then lower it pointing toward the finish line like a gun. John Speelman runner upped and was consoled by another racer "don't feel bad, you lost to a blower"

    92 over

i think low at the first 92 over event was manzo at a .66.

manzo didn't break back into the .50's until later that year...reading i think.

Not sure exactly when the 92% rule kicked in, but I do remember at the Winternatls that year Bucky did run a .56.

The first ever NHRA event at 92% over was the 2001 Phoenix Division 7 event. The first NHRA National Event at 92% was the 2001 Winternationals. Low et was Steve Gasparrelli at 5.618. Top speed was Pat Austin at 252. Yours truly lost a close one first round to Jay Payne. 5.50's were not seen for quite a while.

I'll blow our own horn about our 5.681 with a roots at Joliet 2002...still the quickest ever run for roots blower alky car.

Gary Southern's 6.12 at Indy with the PSI still stands out for me.
