"lifter" thread

a good thread with some technical info on another board re: roller lifters- any good hints here on maintenance and failures? thks

 

Bob, I measure the roller with a micrometer every few races, and if the dimension varies more that .001" (measuring in 4 or 5 places), I don't use it any more. Also look for tiny cracks in the roller radii. If the motor is sitting for a long time, you should take the lifters out and soak in a bucket of 60 or 70 W oil so the needle bearings are not started dry.
