I had an In Car Camera mounted on the Peen Rite TAD at Sonoma last weekend. I spliced together 3 runs to make it look like one pass:

This is my first time using this camera (Samsung Sports Camcorder SC-X205L) which comes with an external lens that you can mount wherever... It is also my first time using the video editing software that came with the camera (I am used to Windows Movie Maker). It ain't perfect, but it's pretty cool... Take a look!!!

    Chris,

As DT would say, that's Way Cool! After seeing the camera on your car over the weekend, our bottom end guy Kevin is on the band wagon to go buy one and mount it on Patton's car. Thanks for sharing the link and footage, it was really cool.

Oh I do have a question, what are you reaching across your body for on the run?

    See you guys Friday

    Frankie,
The chute levers are on the left side, so I reach over with my right hand.

Circuit City sells the camera for $499 with external lens. It comes with 512MB of ram built in, but another $100 gets you a 2GB SD-RAM chip. The camera comes with a 'headband' for the external lens so you can do a helmet cam setup (I tried that on my dirt bike :) However, I went to www.expressmounts.com and bought the following:

    p/n
    ramb231lzs
    ramb201a
    ramb237

which is the hardware necessary to mount the external lens to a framerail for ~$50. So the whole setup cost me around $700. I don't think that there is any tuning value to it, mostly for entertainment :)

Wow that was cool! It's amazing the body panels look as good as they do after dancing around like that!

Really neat! Thanks for sharing Chris!

    Chris,

That was awsome!! Although kind of scary watching the blower belt flapping like that. Kinda brings atear to my eyes, sitting here in Afghanistan watching the video. I'll be home in time for Maple Grove, though! Thanks!!!

I like the new video from the Sonoma division race with the camera pointing backwards. It gives the best idea of how hard these things move off the starting line. Doug Gordon put an in-car camera on his TAFC that faces him and shows the steering wheel, and it's interesting to see how hard he has to steer the car all the way downtrack.

I have some questions for you. In the video you have 3 different angles, do you just need multiple lenses? Do you have any idea about wireless lenses? Looking to use it with fc.
