    will a vertex magneto work for my setup? I have a 427bbc 11:1 comp,6-71,enderle injection, 20% od 20# of boost. I'm running a 6al with the hvc2 coil and crank trigger and it won't rev past 7000 rpms

    Is this car driven on a track or the street. What do you have your plugs gapped at? It is hard to tell if that is an ignition problem or a fuel problem. If it was way rich it also wouldn't rev high. Is that a part number 8253 coil?

    Drag racing and the plugs were gapped at .024 and they are Ngk 5671a-9 plugs

    Timing is at 32 degrees

    Try gapping your plugs at .015" and see what happens. That what we all run with the ProMag 44

    Gapping the plugs got me another 1000 rpm. I found a 7al real cheap and going to buy the 2amp coil and try that out for now

    Back when I ran a similar setup, most preferred the Super Mag II over the Vertex. But since there is better stuff today, I would go with Mike Canter's advice RE the ProMag 44.

    I've ran a 7al2 to 30+ psi and 8k+ with no problems. Even ran the little coil for awhile, saw zero change when I swapped to the bigger coil. Always ran .015 gap.

    Mike what do your plugs look like after a run? A single run on new plugs.

    The plugs look clean and have a little color change half way up the ground strap

    What about heat in the engine? After an 1/8 mile pass I'm 170 degrees if I lean out more will it cause more heat?

    The only we car about is EGT temps and having the plugs look correct.

    My car is all steel and window glass all steel wheel tubs and trunk And floor. The fastest it went was 6.01@120mph 1/8 mile

    Is there any dangers using my 2step to launch the car?

    That's a hard decision to make. No doubt it will increase your performance but don't know what block or crank you are using. It is tough on cranks.

    So you have a water block? Most of us on Two Steps are using a lot stronger crank than that. You might get away with it with a lower launch rpm
