I have seen a lot of people using a stock GM 4 bolt block with billet mains and filled with hard block..... How much power can you get out of these things before you start having block problems?

    Block?

At about 1400-1500 is when the Heads Studs will start LEAVING!
Seems that about 25-26lbs of Boost was the Break Point?
Other than that i never had any Block Issues?But,...........................?

I've ran a filled stock main cap 010 block to about 1100 at the wheels. It never showed signs of failure. It had a stock 3.25 GM steel crank also.

To be honest with you I dont really know... I have a block that has GM stamped on it on the bottom of the passanger side...

On the back of the motor, there are several numbers and markings.

On the drivers side it has 14015445, then as you move tword the center, it has P CFD or CFO, I cant really tell which.

On the passanger side, it has H088 and a marking that looks like a water droplet with three dots above it on the left, two dots in the center, and one dot on the right.

I havnt really got into it to see what I have yet... Just wondering how good they are.

Any info I can get on the block would be great.

No chevy symbol... Just has GM on it

It appears to be a 74 to 90 Truck block with 4 bolt mains.

    Thanks Don...

Do you have anything planned for your dragster for next year?

Maybe if you get some time, you will have to check out my new blown vette... I think you are only 20 or 30 minutes from me.

I also ran a .060 010 block, but after 78 passes (18-22% od, 11.5:1) i had four cracked cylinders. However, that block had been ran hard for years as an injected alcohol motor that was 13.5:1. It had seen some hardship.

    Block

Does that make it a .500 tall decl? All truck blocks I ran were .500 tall. Loved the longer rods. Tuff to put a big stroke and alum. rods. Don
