565 BBC in a 3100# door car 14/71 HH big opening top (15) with adapter to bird JE blown alky pistons 11.5:1 static with down nozzles 125 Main little fat but responsive and made good power on dyno 1600+ flywheel and 1416 1430 tq at wheels Has high speed leanout at 7400 and .075 pill but never gets there.
Truck doesn't run too bad but does not rev like it should almost flat rpm curve. last time out 8.56 at 156 60 ft 1.2 off idle and footbrake. some weird shit going on Tach shift light set at 7000m rpm, shift on light, the Grid review shows I hit 6300 light came back on near 1000 ft supposedly 7000 rpm and trapped at 6700 by Grid file ????? im attaching the file Also Grid not matching mechanical timing references Mag trigger 34 Crank trigger 34 with grid on and max set to 34 and main at 32 shows 28 at degree wheel Is it the timing too retarded that's keeping this from revving or am I looking in the wrong areas Maybe cam timing? below is Gris pic of last run. Thanks for any help
Best run has been 8.05 at 143 lifted at 1000 at 155 so something is off

Are you using the shift light function out of the grid? MSD recommends not using anything important off of that wire as it can be inconsistent. May want to try using the output wire instead if it’s not already in use for something else.

yes on shift light wire for shift solenoid operation but recently disconnected it from shifter solenoid relay.Have found once i use trans brake button to reverse after burnout would fire shifter and blow fuse do to the shifter solenoid being activated for too long why its firing the shifter nobody knows sent file to MSD they still havent responded. so im just gonna shift by hand and use transbrake for launch control and launch timing retard that seems to work ok. Had it on output switch did same thing unless i set it on shift by time and set duration very low say .020 sec

Motorworx if the plug only has a small crescent that is gray/black and the rest I sunburned I would lean it out by five main jet sizes and look at the plug again. If the engine is too rich it will not rpm. If you want you can email me a picture of one of those plugs looking down at the base to mike.c@mindspring.com

Mike Thanks so much will send pics. Also found that for some reason MSD Grid has a 5 degree retard that must be compensated for. with crank trigger at 32 i am reading 27 with grid connected so i set it up moved crank trigger connected to grid at 37 now reads 32 and ran a 7.91 at 167 i believe im still fat as it didnt rev much better
im at 30 degrees timing for now till i find out just where my fuel is. I have exactly 8 runs under my belt and have never built or tuned blown alcohol before, so im thinking better safe than broke

That five degree retard is invisible if you time the mag or the crank trigger with a timing light. Do not compensate for it.
The pictures of your plugs you sent me show that you are not rich but the plugs had three runs on them so they were a little dirty. The big thing I noticed is you need to balance the cylinders so they all read the same. I don’t think the failure to rpm is the fuel system. What diameter slicks are you running with what rear gears?

Hi guys well after some testing seems converter way tight, Running an Arbruzzi that came out of screw blown PM probably making near 8-900 more HP than I was on startup tune. we upped overdrive to 34 % and threw some power at it Rpms came up to 7057 on shift and 7038 at traps. took out flat spot. definitely helped. we were at 30 degrees timing and 30% with fueling pretty close according to Mr. Canter. We have adjusted port nozzles to even things out as per Mr. Canter Now we are gonna spin it at 40% add some fuel once we get fueling right put some timing in her. Think it'll be fine. Thank You everyone for the assistance.
