Using the Grid with a 44 mag how close can the Grid be to the box and coil?
Thanks in advance for the info, Joe

Personally I would have it as far away as I can get it. If it is a door car then inside on the firewall. If it is a funny car or altered then in a metal box as far away as you can get it.

Mike do you see a problem mounting the points box in side a door car? Behind firewall?

That would be hard because you would have to run an extension on the main harness connecting to the mag and that is not recommended by MSD

I and several people I know run it inside behind the firewall. MSD sells a two foot harness for that purpose and if you use it, you should have no issue. If you go any longer, I'd side with Mike as
the longer an extension gets, the chance of issues rise.

I would like to move the Grid further away from the 8147 box and Mag. Can you splice into and lengthen the yellow wires on the Legacy cable. I believe the crank trigger cable is the most sensitive cable to RF, but I don't know how sensitive the Legacy cable is?
    Thanks for any help, Joe

I run the grid on the outside if the frame rail with the EM crank trigger plugged directly into the Grid harness. I would say that there is roughly a foot between the MAG 44/coil and the grid.

Make sure you have a good common ground to everything as well.
