I would ask how you would drive the PG pump if it had a clutch.

I have seen belt driven pumps, I think some of the originals were power steering pumps.

An arrangement that drives the oil pump in the box by the fingers /levers on the clutch.
fingers / blades from this protrude around the outside diameter of the release bearing . So as long as the clutch hat rotates the box has oil pressure.
This was on a 727 torqueflite with a LONG style clutch with 3 levers .

In the early 80' I ran Turbo-Flight in a Pro Gas car. It was all self contained with no external pump. It was a T350 modified with a Lakewood bell housing. Eventually I canned the idea due to non consistent times. B&M was the OEM for the clutch-flight.
You may want to contact Mikes Racing Transmissions in CA. as he has sold me parts to change a Glide with a clutch back to a convertor drive.

What is the point of reviving a 5 year old thread that no one responded to and sounds like a dumb idea anyway ?
