NHRA TAFC, 10.7" Crower Pedal Clutch. Question: When setting static pressure, what is the best method of determining static pressure of zero (neutral, zero turns)?

We have a healthy debate on our team regarding what position the hat should be in to set static pressure. Two thoughts: 1.) It really doesn't matter as long as you use the same theory/procedure each time OR 2.) It matters because the wrong position will provide you with the wrong static pressures relative to thee real baseline. Example: If Crower recommends baseline at 3 turns (as an example), Zero is important because you will end up, potentially, at what you think is 3 turns, but may be 2 depending on the position of the pressure plate when zero is set.

Can anyone offer someone wisdom on finding real Zero on static pressure?
    Thanks,

Make sure the static adjustors are backed off, and then set the stand height (zero on the dial indicator). Also make sure your dial indicator is calibrated correctly before starting. Your static setting will not be effected as long as you stand height is set first, then set your static to the correct numbers of turns.
