are there any negative consequences to using one?
I've had 2 pop this year  and the second one did quite a bit of body damage.

It seems like a good idea as long as it doesn't damage anything on the front of the motor.

One of the best thing we put on the car this year. We put ours facing down, with the way the body fits there isn't room to go up without doing body damage. (quite a few I've seen are pointed up). The first time we poped one with the diverter the only damage was a burnt sensor wire, but no other damage on the front of the motor. We wraped the wire and haven,t had any ohter problems when one goes.

PS. Our body and paint man has a lot more time for other things now.

Thanks Thurston I'll add one to my quickly growing list of winter parts purchases.
