Bill Naves - Shooting Star Motorsports 1st Round 1 WIN!

After 25 years of Alcohol Funny Car Drag Racing, Dad and the team got our FIRST Round Win of an NHRA National Event!

It was a crazy race between Dad and Mickey Ferro that is sure to make the highlite reel! It was just an amazing weekend beginning with qualifying 14th. We had a ton of work to do as we were fighting a fuel / oil leak after starting up for the firt time on Thursday. We had the blower off FOUR times trying to get the spacers to seal right. After drilling, tapping, bolting and glueing a couple times we got it done.

We almost threw in the towel for first round with just an hour and a half before first round and we decided we needed to take the blower off one last time to drill and tap the 2nd plate and fix the leak. With a ton of hard work and help from the crew and friends we got her done and to the line in time for first round.

I'm just really proud of the team and of Dad for a great job this weekend. To line up against some of the best in the World and to actually take a round win for a team like ours with no budget but a great passion for the sport is an amazing thing. For the entire crew to work as hard as they do and to put in as many hours as they do for just a hot dog and a coke is a true testiment of their love of the sport.
