anyone here race in the old Pro Comp?

    my dad did Glenn Pearmain he raced quite a few different cars back then but the one that is probably most remembered is "Sound of Silence" bb/fc his e-mail is aabad@yahoo.com

    No, But the car I own and drive, and also my next car were both
    the cars to beat in Pro Comp in the 70`s
    I would like to race them both if there will be a new PRO COMP association,
    or even a new Injected funny car association.

    BRING BACK PRO COMP.

    pro comp

    come on kids, some of us Dads are still out here.Most if us don't remember much about it anymore. Myself, I started in a Garlits built rear engine BAD with a 392 and a 671, 2 speed.It was a really cool show back then, AA altereds, front and rear engine rails, some twin engine stuff, injected and blown funny cars.Try these names; John Moury,Rat Poison (I loved that name)Dick Balling, Bruce Horner,Ken Winward,Mill Road Boys.Tommy Musselman.Jeff Rapp.Talk about a parity nightmare, try it now with all the advancements...I can't imagine the restrictions needed.But back then....AWESOME!!

    some people are still racing that class... my son and I just built a car for that class..

    my pop, Harry Hall ran the "KS Pittman" vega, then a series of Shenandoah BB/FC's in the 70's early 80's. Are we going to start this again?? like , do you remember...

    Scott Weneys weekend warrior blown dragster which if i recall started out as an injected fuel car. Hansen And Horner A/Fuel injected big block chevy dragster. Todaro & Rapps hemi A/Fuel dragster. Frank Manzos season with his transformer blown alcohol Altered sometimes with a funny car body. A whole bunch of blown alcohol smallblocks run by Art Gallant, Jim Real, Ron Zaverella, Galen Roggie with John Campany, Ron still, Injected smallblock B Fuel dragsters of dale hall and the pleasure seekers junior edition of Samolyk and Alexander. Mack and Dorr (sp?) Blown gas dragster. Mike koskys american flyer that i think ran a yenko aluminum bbc block aa/da Or maybe that was Richie Shott with the Yenko. thats all I can remember from division one in pro comp at the moment,.

    my Dad worked on Kevin Sieberts 1976 Monza that ran Pro Comp won a race or 2 in 76 i still own the body.

    I don't remember any parity headaches. Seemed like anyone could step up at any time to win the race, set records, etc, regardless if it was a dragster or funny car. We all had a big learning curve ahead of us, so there was a lot of potential left for either car.

    DISCLAIMER: The following is just for the sake of conversation! Not an endorsement of the combining of the class.

    Since bench racing is the only racing that will go on until Pomona (for the most part), what kind of rules do you think it would take to combine the classes back into Pro Comp?

    Again, this is just bench racing. I don't think it would really work...

    I think it should first be determined whether this topic is talk of
    PRO COMP 1974-1982, and having a class to do it again with nostalgia cars.
    or,
    if this is an attempt at todays mixture of blown cars and injected nitro cars
    that run in the Lucas Oil Series in todays world.

    ?????

    or if this is someones research and documentation of the past.

    I think it would be pretty simpler, go back to the roots blower and set an upper limit of 50% over. I think the dragsters and funny cars would be competitive, if one tended to be a bit quicker than the other, lower the overdrive for that type of car. Of course, this doesn't take the a-fuel cars into account; it has already been shown that it is very difficult to slow them down.

    If you were doing it with current cars, the first thing to ask is whether to slow the dragsters down to fc times or speed the fc's up to the dragsters.

    Give Manzo a C blower at 125 over, I think he could run mid to low .30's if not quicker.
