8/00 bearings - DONT RUN

    i know this is old news to many, but i still run across teams that havent heard - DO NOT run clevite bearings with a date of 8/00. these bearings have a problem delaminating, and have killed many motor over the course of the last few seasons. just a note to all.....

    I didn't know about these, I assume they're the CB 1512 M variety? We use the harder V bearings.

    We had a similar experience with the same brand of bearing in 1996; don't use any bearings with the identifier A4, they are really bad news. Will usually look perfect after 1 run, they they lose all the facing. Blew up 2 motors and lots of nice stuff in a short period of time, and didn't figure out what the cause was until the end of the season.

    BTW, why does JAM's posts repeat all the time?
