I know that Evan Knoll has stated on nitromater that Alky FC will return to IHRA, but I think it's high time the sanctioning body steps up and makes it official.

I probably trust Evan's word more than many sources out there, but the racers deserve more than that. How does a race team tell a sponsor "Well I know there hasn't been anything official that we're racing, but Evan Knoll said...so could you go ahead and get us the first check?"

Sadly, the way this class was given the shaft last year, I don't see a whole lot of the above hypotheticals.

    IHRA - Step up!

    >If the class can secure purse funding, then it will run in 2007.* Basically several teams and IHRA have been working on it since the end of last season.* Several drivers have said they can secure it, but nothing is signed yet.* We plan on having it in the rulebook based on the meetings the teams have had with us and the offers we have in front of potential sponsors right now. There is no deadline other than the first race of 2007 to have this in place.

Money is in the Bank !

From a more than reliable source, the funds have changed hands and IHRA will arrange the press release when the formalities are completed. Also the press release will be at the sponsors time and place as requested. This information today I posted is current compared to the outdated E-mail (Oct 18 2006) that John has posted , the race schedule for SanAntonio was just released in accordance with these develpoments.

    naming rights?

anyone else find it strange that every other class has "torco..." in front of it except afc? if funding was secured, wouldn't the title sponser want their name on all the press releases, etc.?

Les your right it is a old email, but both Aaron and Skooter both told me they would continue to print everything just as we were running but if it is not funded by the day before San Antonio race we dont have a class. Hopefully it has changed since Jan 8th (last contact with them and not done then)
I hope your right and we run if not i spent a lot of money to try for nothing
since Norwalk was our first time out with the new car minus some testing
If it is a done deal why not put it in a news flash, quick note something to let people know, very un-professional so far...but hey just my opinion

It's not my fault, don't get mad at me, I'm just as mad about it as everybody else, some things just don't go as planned sometimes because of pride, arogance, and attitudes, due to a sighned confidentiality agreement I can't and it sucks. We all just have to wait!:(
There is a lot riding on this for a lot of people! Believe me I feel the pain too!!

Questioning your source and motives !

I would love to hear who you have signed that confidentiality agreement with ...... unless of course you also signed one to say you would never tell you signed it !

    OUTLAW JACK :

This is wrong for you to post an ambiguous comment like that ,especially when you hang that post on your moniker and not your real name. There is nothing to hide , The class would have been cancelled by now and that would have been in print everywhere ! Why assume anything has changed from last year ??? we ran with this cloud from the beginning of 06 but not all people new that , and I don't see any reason for Whack jobs to post crap like that without their real name and valid information. I suggest EACH participant that has a vested interest in the class call IHRA now and settle this for yourself once and for all !

Outlawjack please don't continue this thread with any of your rationalization or beating around the bush bullshit ! and Don't send me any "secret squirrel" info by PM ..... my secret decoder ring battery is dead and I won't understand anything you have to say !

I did what I set out to do, and that's light a fire under all of the A/FC racers and demand and answer!
Who's Source is Credible?? Your's, Or the one that Was going to Sponsor the Class But Because a Certain Deal Didn't go through, Because of Arrogance and being mean to someone it fell through!
Just Remember that your comments are a turn off to people wanting to help this class, and not all people that are working to "GIVE YOU" winners circle money are so called "Whack Jobs"!!
    Very Professional work, Les Mellows!!

All we know for sure is that they are running the class in San Antonio, period.

My thoughts are, you would think that "IF" there was a deal in place the announcement would have been posted at the IHRA website by now, they seem to be making sponsor announcements daily on there site so the timing could not be better, you would think.

So unless this is a blockbuster deal that needs allot of fanfare ( best case scenario ) and perfect timing for a release date, which seems to be unlikely right now, I would have to say the "deal", if any is still in the works.

And that's OK better late than never I guess.

Thank goodness the fence we are sitting on is still frozen up here :)

Not sure why there is the delay, but there are some big things in the works for the IHRA. Notice that EMax is gone as the series sponsor. I assume that the IHRA will be announcing the new series sponsor very soon and will likely clarify the alky funny car situation at the same time. Like I said, I do not know why there is the delay, probably some lawyers behind it, but I am pretty confident that if Evan Knoll says that there will be a class for the alcohol cars, then the issue is resolved.;)
