Thinking of buying one or the other. I am kind of sitting on the fence, one versus the other.

For those who have experience with these units, any thoughts or preferences one way or the other? Drawbacks, benefits, support, maintenance, consistency, etc. ?

    Thanks.

I know the Ty-Drive is similar to the Bruno drive in that it uses CO2 and a band/drum for a transbrake. It's also billet and lighter. I have not used one and can't comment further.

I have ran a quickdrive in several cars and had very good luck. The only real problem I ever ran into came from debris from the CO2 bottle, so I would recommend a rock filter or a nitrous type filter. No problems since installing that. The last 8 runs we made in the Top Dragster were at two different race tracks, one near sea level, the other close to 900' elevation, and the 8 runs were from 6.108 to 6.130. If you throw out the .13, it goes to 6.120. RT's are very consistent as well.

Luck Devil, the Ty-Drive is a big improvement over the Bruno. 1. The Ty-Drive has a sight glass on the side of the pan so you can quickly check the fluid level. 2. The bolts holding the pan on can be easily accessed from the outside without having to go through the pan. 3. You can change Transbrake band without pulling the unit but you have to move the transmission back. 4. The pump on the Ty-Drive is a lot better and lasts longer. 5. The air solenoid is better than the Bruno is dumps air faster. 6. You don’t need a relay for the Transbrake which makes the reaction time faster and more consistent. 7. It is easier to fill and has a built in breather on top. 8. You don’t have to modify the bottom of the CS2 to fit the tranny on the drive.

I guess you like the Ty-Drive then Mike :) I know you have had good experience with the Bruno-Drive too. I did have to change the Band on my Bruno in a rush once, I managed to do it with out pulling pulling the unit.

I have a quickdrive and there’s not one complaint I have. have. It’s pretty bullet proof. I run red line fluid and use it for the whole year. The transbrake clutches have been the same for 3 years now. I do however put orings in the pump and pan every year. And if the converter fails and you can take the whole unit apart in about 15-20mins. Clean the pump and put back together in less than hour. Very simple design. I bought a complete rebuild kit when I bought the unit and Steve was like your wasting your money!! My units don’t fail.
