I am wondering if anyone has used these in a blown alcohol engine. They are quite a bit less expensive than a Bryant/Winburg/Crower etc. There must be a reason.......

I broke an eagle and a used Bryant before installing a billet Ohio. That broke at the front rod fillet somewhere short of 100 runs. I have a second one now with about 20 runs but I put a girdle on with the new crank. These are turned down to a sbc rod journal size which may have shortened the life especially with no girdle on the last one.

They claim tire Shake is hard on that front fillet with no girdle. I shook the tires hard enough to break stuff a few times on that first billet crank. Motor is now in a door car and (knock wood) has been pretty smooth.

Talk to Chip. He will be honest with you about what they have. They have one customer that knows he is going to get less runs out of each crank vs a more expensive one (nitro hemi) but uses them anyway at the right interval.
