I have this odd BDS blower ...its a 16 -71 with 20" billet rotors, standard helix, has teflon on tips and sides...and it has a retro bottom and the dual pie openings as the pics show. Has standard Bird top opening. Clearences are tight, unlike other BDS blowers I have seen, which were all pretty loose. I would like to use it with alcohol on my conventional head BBC 572 in my 125" altered bracket-outlaw toy type car. Would this blower work for me to get me into the 6s range , or I'm wasting my time with it ? Is there any real benefit from the retro opening and the dual pie openings on a standard helix, or are these just gimmicks with the standard rotors ? Thanks, Tom

I don't have any advice on that blower but I must point out the following.
    572 cubes
Altered not governed by weight rules
    16-71
No limits on pulleys or fuel pumps.
Tracks likely to be junk most of the time.
    Seems like a no brainer.

I have 2 seasons in this altered, I think I have the setup figured out enogh to try and step up to more power. I need to run 6s to keep up. Tracks are not the greatest, but not junk either...somewhere in between.
Need to know if I have enough blower to do it.

I have pulleys to go 20 and 30 % overdrive...motor is built to rev to 8000rpm . Question is...will it pick up any decent hp going from 20% to 30% over., or just make heat. Guessing 20% over will put me somewhere in the 20lbs boost range.
BTW, your plug reading article is great, I learned a lot from it when starting out. Saved me a lot of parts. On another car we started out with a new combo, no flowed system, only flowed pump, and had a working tune by the end of the weekend only reading plugs., no damaged parts, no milking oil etc.

Tommy, it might me ok at 20% but like you said may generate too much heat at 30%. Do you own this blower now?

Even though it’s efficiency will be diminishing and making more heat at 30% than 20%OD I’m certain it will still make more power especially since it is a retro even though it not a HH blower I would think simply because of its size it should get you in the 6s
