I talk to Eric off and on and they tried 3 blowers at the race. They ended up running the smaller of the 3 it was the fastest. 141mm. All AJPE stuff and fuel tech. There is a new box out to control way more then the msd grid from halltech that is killer.

Sure makes you wonder.... In the article it said that Procharger was in hand with (4) of each model of the bigun’s. From what I’m hearing the larger units really rob a lot of horsepower so the 140 may be the best bang for the buck in terms of horsepower given vs. horsepower to turn.

Rob agree on that. I would be curious to see how and if the boost falls off at a certain rpm vs where a bigger blower will pick up?

In general they are pretty neat units. I did some testing this past year with one of their smaller blowers in a street car. The blower they were using has a lot of well documented gear box issues. We got it to run pretty good for a side slinger configuration, the only thing I didn’t like was the boost was a little slow coming in. A little more time with it and I’m sure I would have figured a way around it. They have a new one coming with the bigger gear box, guess we’ll see how that goes. I really think that they should try a large Lenco helicopter sprag in that front drive deal. The on and off the throttle in the burnout or in a pedal fest seem to be hard on unit.

I looked at them a few years ago and thought "Hey, how about a gear box in front of their unit, with a sprag feature, but that's as far as I ever went with it." One could add variable drive ratio too.

If you're gonna run something direct off the crank, it had better be very durable, or have compliance. I don't mean little compliance bushings either..

    Just my 2 cents.

What about a completely unlimited class? Just turn everything/one loose, impose safety, and let people compete in a safe environment. What then would happen?........ Would not have to be at the detriment of other existing classes.

I believe that class was called pro extreme and died because no one could keep up with the screws. If the screw blown guys would have took it easy, they would have the same or better parts life as what was in the article. But everyone has that competitive edge to be the quickest so everyone runs their stuff hard. Once one guy does it, everyone has to follow. On the turbo car I was working with over the last two years we put 90 some runs on that engine without so much as dropping the pan and we ran consistently in the .70’s and as quick as mid .60’s. We also went a sub .9 60’. The technology is out there to make the power on a pretty reliable basis, it’s up to the tuners to make em shine.
