    hi all!
are some of you using M/T 34.5x17x16 tires in a blown alcohol door car application, with beadlock wheels?
if so,what compound are you using?big burnouts necessary?longevity?
    thanks in advance

I have run them with good success in a turbo clutch car. They have the two compounds, one is designed for door cars and the other for dragsters. We have been using the door car tire but will probably try the dragster tire this year as they say it’s easier to “get up on the tire” with them. The tire seems to have a stiffer sidewall than either the Hoosier or the Goodyear and the driver doesn’t complain about the tire shake like with the others. In my experience it goes from shake to tire smoke instead of prolonged shaking. M/T says do a large burnout the first time out and then keep your burnout kind of short, which we tend to do so unless the track conditions warrant otherwise. The other thing is it seems that M/T is always doing some sort of tire testing or R&D and you may have a little bit better tech support than other brands. On a side note, several years ago they had an issue with pieces of the tire pulling out or plugging and in extreme cases it would blow the tire apart. Now they say they have fixed the issue, and we never stopped running their tires on the turbo car, and we never had any issues either. Since then several people have been fast with them, Harry Hruska comes to mind. However with all of that said I don’t think that I personally would want to run 270+ on this tire, but I wouldn’t hesitate to run it 220 or so. But that’s my personal opinion and as always your results may vary.

Nice write up BUT a turbo PM does not launch as hard as a blower PM. Whole different requirement for tires. If you go to races such as NHRA and look at the tires that the top blower cars run you will see that the vast majority run Hoosier. Same at PDRA ProBoost.

I ran them for 2 seasons. First set of tires was great. 2nd set nothing but shaking. At a Ihra event going into the lanes the Hoosier sales guy yells hey if you ever wanna use the whole tire come see me!!!! We stopped and laughed , with a what you say??? He showed me the tire was serverly cupped and had no contact with the track. Been with Hoosier ever since. And was the same price too. I too have a blower car and found the nos tire to work better than the blower tire.

This particular turbo car frequents sub .950 60’s and launches pretty hard. Not your typical soft off the line turbo deal. Maybe we will run a few PDRA races this year, if so I will stop over and say hello.

Weatherford runs the M/T in pro nitrous pretty successfully. In general i feel that if a car sticks the tire I prefer the Goodyear if whizzing the tire is your game then the Hoosier seems like a better deal. The Goodyear seems better on marginal tracks, again this is my experience and yours may vary.

I think it’s more about your tuneup and chassis setup than the tire. If you really don’t have a tuneup to begin with, then it really doesn’t matter what tire you bolt on. The main thing with tires is that you are able to get the same tire when you need them. Sometimes tire manufacturers pull them from the mould too early or they have changed something in the manufacturering process, but it’s the “same tire”, but all of a sudden it doesnr work with your setup. In that case any tire but that tire is a good choice.

LOL i am doing the same thing with a clutch turbo deal ....6500 rpm and 24 psi at the hit is kinda in the same ball park as a blower car.....Harry had the NHRA national record with the ''baby'' M/T tire

Go and look at PDRA ProBoost and ProXtreme then look at NHRA Promod and tell me how many top contender blower cars you see with M/T tires or even Goodyear. They all run Hoosier and there is a good reason for that.
