Not sure what i'm missing here Mike, but whether the Lenco is shifted or not, the internal sprag will have it 'free wheeling' regardless, once you let off the throttle, no?
I have a TD w/ a blown BAE 526, Bruno & 3 spd CS-2 Lenco for like 10 yrs, and I've always just killed the mag after letting off, and only released the air out of the Lenco pods once I've stopped...never a problem...not saying it's the right thing to do, but I've never known better...

Also, the 250 psi you state for a CS2, is that with the bigger 3.375" O.D. pods, or for the older smaller ones?
Reason I ask is I have always run the 250 psi for my Lenco (with these bigger pods), but would like to run both the Bruno & Lenco off of one 200 psi regulator, for simplicity.
    Thanks,
    Clif

Unless you dump the air out of the pods the clutches inside the Lenco are going to be engaged so it is really a straight shaft from the Bruno output to the driveshaft. Yes the sprags are free wheeling but it is just a straight thru shaft. This transmission lockup is what causes the motor to be pulled down after the finish line and can cause deformation of the crank end of the rod. If you lower the pod pressure on a CS2 to 200 lbs then you decrease the force that is engaging the Lenco clutch pack and may burn up the clutches.
