Any one using an SAE steering spool and having o-rings wear out and leak frequently?

I have not logged the # of runs after rebuild but I have had leaks at least two maybe three times in three years and only put 15-20 passes on the car a year.

The used o-rings look fine, they are not chunked out or torn that I can see. I use silicone oring grease on assembly and I am very careful on the installation not to damage them.

Maybe it is normal and I need to replace them on a 8-10 run schedule.

B&J trans 400 PSI regulator. Maybe they just flatten out and loose tension pretty quickly. I am using the Buna N o-rings recommended by SAE. I think they are 70 durometer. I use the 90 durometer in the shifter buttons.

Keep in mind that this is not the intended purpose of an o-ring. They are not designed to turn! There are other ways, I've done most, but gave up on that deal 25 years ago as too risky even with Lenco 150 psi.

OK thanks Bob so what are you guys using for lines.? the good quality flexible push in type lines and let them wrap around the steering shaft or? I went this way to get away from this but I am loosing confidence in the spool.
