Hi All, looking for some feedback on Computech DataMaxx data logger professional w/dash. Has any one used or crewed on a car with one. User friendly, durability with vibration ,shake etc. Bang for your buck. What are your thoughts.

    Thanks Mike Watkins

We use the Computech system in our top dragster altered and we are very happy with it. We had some problems with it a few years ago (occasionally wouldn't record), but they seem to have ironed that out.
I find it very user friendly, and the people at Computech are top notch, I have had them return calls to me while I was at the track on a Sunday.
The system seems to be immune to tire shake, and I get the same info as the other systems have for about half the price.
    That's my $0.02 worth.:)

I've used one on my nostalgia top fueler almost since they came out.
Great bang for the buck and best tech support I've ever run into.

I love just grabbing the SD card out of the computer and plugging it into my laptop to view. Maybe that's how they all are?

If there was one thing I'd suggest to them is to design a remote plug in egt viewer for idle setup.
They have the optional dash unit that does it but nothing portable.
Even so, I'd still buy another unit.

    data logger

I have no input good or bad about computech, i did talk to a few people that really liked them when i was buying one, but what i do know is that when you add what you need to the total its not a lot cheaper than racepack and i know racepack is the best but i have to say i am very happy with rpm, they have great support, equipment and price so i went with randy at rpm, if your on a budget i would at least look it over on his website and price it.

I have the computech in one of the cars that I crew on. It's not quite a racepack, but it gives you most of the same information. If you are on a budget, you can't go wrong. The thing that I really like is that you can order what you need now, and then expand by plugging in additional modules, no need to send it back to get it recalibrated. I will also say that the tech support was great. I spoke with Jay a few times to order the unit and a few times after the purchase to get things straightened out. There are also several different ways you can view the run. I like the all in one view while some of the others on the crew like each group of sensor broken down into individual viewing panes. I guess the idea with the individual panes is that since each window has its own scale if something was out of wack you would notice it right away. We have the digital dash option too and thats pretty neat because you can customize your display to what you want and you also have two lights one amber and the other red that you can program for just about anything you can imagine.

    rpm datalogger

RPM all the way. Randy at rpm has the best service hand down. I have had them all.
I just sent mine to him to check over and since we have been using this unit for several years. He bench tested the unit with sensors, upgraded software, shipped back to my door. He even paid the shipping back.
    Thanks, that's my opinion.

I have no experience with Computech. I did have one racer tell me he had some issues with RF from the mag messing with the dash/logger.

RPM - it's hard to find someone to say something bad about the product. Never heard a bad word about the service from Randy and he is pretty much always available.

We've ran an RPM wireless download system in a boat for 10 years. No problems other than one sensor going out and a couple of egt's. I think rough handling was the cause of egt failure's. They also have a dash for it as of a year or so ago. Randy has no problem giving out his cell # & will answer on the weekends. He designed it he sells it he supports it.... Good luck finding anyone else like that. Good luck in whatever you decide on !!

I have used the Computech it works ok. The cycle rates are a little low compared to competition and the graphing is not as nice as the competition. I have also used RPM and Racepak bang for buck and tech support is hands down RPM. Any questions feel free to call me
