Roots Blower Hats - All Carbon or Billet Front

    Have been considering a new hat for our roots blown hemi and have heard of some issues with all carbon hats dealing with some flex messing w/ butterflys? I noticed that the CFH & JBR hats are billet/carbon........

    Also considering the DMPE MK14 with the larger center hole......but have heard of some idling issues with those but the claim 20hp over MK 7 with 3 equal size holes??

    Any input/experience would be appreciated.

    There is no hp in hats! Period. Some idle better than others. I've seen dyno back to back hats. Nothing changed anywhere. I have a 2 blade. People say they don't idle. Mine idles wherever I set it at. But it's been modified and fixed to idle. I've seen some heavily modified inside , extensive hours of work. Not 1hp difference.

    So i really try to keep to myself on these web pages anymore for what i consider obvious reasons. However, this one i need to comment.

    I strongly disagree with the above statement. I have dyno tested many Injectors over the years. I have designed injectors, I have designed Dynos and I have designed Superchargers and other fun items. From the Superman to my favorite the M5. (just laying out my credentials to attach value to my statement)
    I have been pleasantly surprised and i have been distraught while developing new products.
    i have seen as much as 200 hp from the worst hat to the best hat on a roots and almost twice that on a screw. I've seen hats govern a power plants potential. (change the hat and its a total different animal)

    Lol. Good to see you back Darren. Sure on old injectors that are not current style with inside bolts and bird catchers. I can see how easy the hp gain would be. But from your current mk7 to mk5 and a 4 blade. None of them picked up Hp on dyno. I watched it happen cuz I was in line to buy the modified one. Passed on it after that day. Now if you Taylor a spacer to a blower for a certain hat. I can see that but just simply bolting them on after back to back dyno session.... You telling me there is 200 hp somewhere there?

    I'm far from being as smart as Darren but here's my two cents. I would think it would be hard too see a true difference between hats without being at speed. It would be cool too test them on a dyno in a wind tunnel. I would like too see how my Gerardot upright injector with A fuel scoop would add up too these big money carbon hats. Thanks for posting Darren I like hearing from people with your knowledge sharing it.

    We had few hats dyno tested on our blower at Hammer Superchargers, after Troy got done testing we found one hat had more boost at the hit and the other at mid range to top rpm.

    You can also check how efficient the ram air is from your hat by seeing what your boost is at 9000 rpm in first gear, then at 9000 in second gear and 9000 in high gear. The amount of boost should increase with speed due to air being rammed by the hat

    Corrections department -

    All JBR hats have a billet aluminum insert for the injector blades.

    I was hoping for more input on this topic......anybody have any experience w/ the all carbon around the blades? Are they more prone to breakage or flexing, causing butterfly issues.....

    The number one way to avoid trouble is to have the stop properly adjusted on the side where the cable hooks and the stop under the pedal set right.

    I run all carbon hats. One aerodyne and one knut. Neither have every had a problem.

    I noticed a few years ago,when the carbon hats first got popular and were the (trick of the month), Frank Manzo was running 5.40's with a standard PSI 4-blade funnycar injector.
