Just pulling my box apart for a service check.
What should I be looking for ? & what do I need to be careful with.
I have had this apart a few times before.
What are people setting the gear packs at? are there thicker steels like in the tranz brake?
What is the tranz brake pack set at ?
Also is there any tricks or mods to stop breaking reverses
    Thanks

    reverse fragile

Although I can't help you out with the general tranny, I will say (by experience) that the only reason the reverser breaks is from non-intentional abuse...make sure you are at a dead stop before shifting in / out of reverse, and don't even remotely think about touching the loud pedal while reversing...
if you follow these rules, it will last a long time; no reason it shouldn't.
And: if you do not have rear braces to the tranny motor, keep in mind that when you launch you have 700 lbs + of motor / tranny that has to follow the car, so there is rear reverse force, and if you don't have at least 1/4" of play in the driveshaft/coupler, you can be jamming the reverser with the driveshaft.

Two things about the reverser section. Part of the planetary gears in the reverser section used to come out of the Ford C4 transmission but as time passed on those parts are no longer available so they have been replaced by cheaper parts that were available and those parts are what is breaking. As far as checking things the reverser planetary gear cage that bolts to the forward part of the case should have Loctite on the bolts that hold it to the case and should be checked for tightness on a routine basis. If these bolts come loose which they do it destroys the reverser section.

    Lenco Drive

Thanks to all that have replied.
Have Spoke to Mick Snyder great guy.
Mike that's has been my problem
    Cheap reverser planetary
& also had a bolt fall out.
Ken Lowe from Australia used to make a steel set But there was not enough call to make them.
Lenco drives are hard on reversers the shock when you let go of the tranz brake when reverser.
Will just have to do my own mods

Well about the only thing you can do is to Loctite those bolts and be gentle on the rest. I am hoping that Lenco will start getting better gears soon. It has cost us a few races.
