The 8992 MSD Self Powered Timing Light is the best I have seen, but I have used one like the flaming river it works just not near as bright as the MSD

X2 on the MSD light. Went through the Flaming river, (lasted 3-4 years) Then tried the Pro-form (sp?). It lasted 1 year. Then spent the money on the MSD. Way nicer light. Only had it for a year, but so far so good.

Did you mean the MSD 8991 Timing Pro Self-Powered Timing Light while the 8992 is hooked up to 12 volt battery?

Have had 2 flaming river 1001 model, first one last 8-9 races, last one 6. Funny thing is that they dont work on oure MSD10 equipped car but when we tested them on a 7531 equipped car they work fine? Havent tried them on a mag44.

I looked at the MSD 8991 and it has no adjustment dial, is this accurate?

Here is what I have found....if the batteries are low any of these lights will show you retarded timing. Yes the MSD is brighter. When you get to the race and are timing the engine, put the batteries in. When you are packing up, take them out. Put new batteries in at the start of the season and half way through the season and you will be just fine. Of course I'm not an electronics guy but I'm just relating what I have seen and learned by hard experience.
