    timing starting point

I have a set of 110cc WAR alcohol fat heads on a 526 hemi with a 14/71 hi helix littlefield blower and msd 44 ignition looking for a safe starting point to set timing, with a safe tune up, looking to run in the 6.20 range. Thanks

I HATE replying to "these" kind of threads......but I can TELL YOU.....If you run 26 to 28 on these heads.....you shouldn't heart a bearing (and heres my DisClaimer!! hahaha) UNLESS "something" else is WRONG!!!:D

As hilary would say, What differance dose it make? you will 1 pound the bearings, or 2 blowup the motor,
28 is the most anyone with a brain would run.

24*- 26 tops,..ask Dave Germain about those heads on his 526 combo of many years before he switched to a Miner Motor,
I was the bottom end guy too.

Need to watch the piston dome to the cylinder chamber clearance and Valve to piston also. We needed to massage the pistons a little, that was with a Arias alky piston
not sure what the compression height was or how long of rod, its been a while. also make sure you check pushrod length at the rocker tip that the roller tips are staying on the center of the valve stem or lash cap.

Thanks for the info Vic. We gave plenty of clearances when we assembled. We got 11.5 compression on the safe side and I got a set of massaged Aries pistons from back in the day, well hopefully it will all work out this spring. If you think of anything else let me know . Bruce
