I have been contacted by a couple tracks, wondering if there were enough Altereds in the North West to have an all Blown Altered show. I'm sure injected Nitro would be fine too. I know a few guys, but don't have any contact info for most. I haven't talked about money or anything yet. I know that they want cars that will run in the 6's pretty regular. I think we need at least 8 cars that could be counted on. Might even work into a mini series with a few tracks. I don't know yet. Just looking to see if there is any interest.

Let me know. You can call me or e-mail.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

You might want to combine your interests with Cap Racing who already has the ground work for blown alcohol cars in the N/W. Altereds are certainly included in that program. My son and I have been involved up to our ears over the last 15 years putting on outlaw programs in the West,. I can tell you if you try and split off a group in this ecomomy you'll never have enough cars to field a program that the tracks will support on a on going bases. Your only hope is in combining various cars to get a field, and I mean even 8 cars right now is tuff.

    Good luck...........................Blessings...........Ron Clevenger

I understand about the car count issue. That is why I'm asking for input now before anything else. I also know that several people that I have talked to, don't care for the Pro Comp format that is being set up for those events. I'm just hoping that there are enough Altereds to get a couple shows together this summer. All I can do is give it a shot and hope that we can work together and have a little fun.

    Thanks

    Chuck

I don't see where you guys are figuring ProComp (??) format on the race series by Cap Racing. It's heads up racing Chicago style.

If you read Cap Racing post, he calls it Pro Comp. I think most people that are calling it Pro Comp, don't like racing dragsters against short cars, (funny car, altered). Dragsters have an advantage no matter how you look at it. So the heads up thing even makes less sense to me.

    Just my 2.
    Thanks,

    Chuck.

We'll have to disagree on the "dragsters have an advantage". Been racing the last 15 years in programs that ran dragsters-altereds-funny cars and ProMods all together. ProMods have the most legal front overhang and dragsters have the least. Never considered that was enough to let the car just sit in the shop waiting for the perfect class. Most of the time it was more about just getting down the track from point A to B. I'd much rather see it go down the track in front of people and be racing. The spectators love seeing different type race cars racing each other. And that is the bottom line for the track owners.

The West Coast right now is pretty barren of outlaw groups to race with. A big part of the problem is everyone wants a special class just for themselves. Therefore, there are a bunch of older race cars just sitting.

I truly wish you guys good luck in putting together a sucessful race program that the track owners will support.

    dragsters vs f/c

No advantage? I have a 510 hemi it runs 6.70s please don't tell me that if I put it in a dragster, (1900lbs) that it wont be a lot faster than my funnycar. (2400lbs) Royce, get those alt bodies going. its time for the original wild cars of drag racing to make a come back.

We qualified #1 and won the first Northwest Outlaw race of the year with the 77 Mustang body on against dragsters but might have to throw our Mob style Fiat Topolino on for this one!

    I dont bracket race

Taking nothing away from your "win" you were bracket racing? had a dial in? The procomp proposed is heads up. quickest take all. So you don't think you could go quicker if you put your engine in a dragster? Put an alt body on and come play with the short cars.

Mark, We were bracket racing and did dial in but we dialed quicker than the dragsters. My point was that every once in a while the short cars get lucky and drive around the pipe racks, and I do know that a dragster would go quicker with my motor in it as we have the same motor combination in our dragster as the funnycar and it runs three tenths quicker with 6.20s. I like heads up but have raced in TAD and Blown alcohol hydro and have seen the car and boat counts drop off as it lead to racing check books and I don't think many racers want to do that in a shitty economy. I bought my Fiat body back last year and we're looking forward to changing it up with the Mustang and running with some Altereds as well.

BK Rodz has some killer Altered bodies available now and shipping is pretty cheap. They have the '34 Coupe (which we run, the '32 Bantum and they are working on a new '40 Ford Coupe. Nice product. A little differant than the 23'ts and Fiats.

Count me in! You funny car guys better be prepared for some white knuckle rides and dirty visors! Hahaha
I've been racing my altered for 10 seasons now and it's funny how things change. I can't remember how many times I've been told "You should put a funny car body on your car and run with our group" Now funny car guys want to run with us "Outcast" altereds??? Hahaha

The altereds have always been welcome to run with the funnycars. Chuck is trying to see if there is any interest in a group. I for one have always thought a f/c owner should have an extra body to change up when needed. By my count there are about 8-10 state side at least. With just afew gentleman's agreements we should be able to run and not kill our stuff, run fast and put on a good show. To practice driving an altered I will just have to go driving out of control this winter in my dually  How tuff can it be?
