You are correct they are not being made anymore because they lost the supplier of the material needed. It has been rumored that they will start up M bearings again. Don't know have any other full babbit bearing that can be used other than the Clevite V bearing.

    King

I know King makes a M style thrust.

It's been a while since I ran them but I think Federal Mogul offers something similar?

Ye, that bearing is a solid babbit bearing but is equal to the Clevite V bearing in hardness.

Sorry, I was talking about the Speed Pro/ Federal Mogul bearing. Don't know about the King bearing. I have always been told that both the M and V are soft when comparing to a standard Clevite triple layer bearing. The M is just softer than the V. The big advantage of the M and V bearings is that they are not layered so you just don't wear off the thin candy shell on the outside when under extreme load.

Is the m bearing softer than the v bearing ? i was told that the m is softer than the v, we run the m bearing now and its been great for us, i was told that some people had problems blackening the mains running the v series bearings, i was hoping the federal mogel/speed pro bearing was the same hardness of the m bearing

    m

the m bearing is softer than the v, but i only recommend running it in the thrust...you have too many delamination problems on the other bearings.
