I have an older style funny car body and am looking to upgrade to a new one.

What weight would be considered a light complete alcohol body (Monte Carlo or Mustang) (with empty chute packs, paint, etc), and with what sort of tree (titanium or moly)?

    body

Unless you are mounting it yourself, it's usually bad money to put a new body on a used car. If you are doing the labor, it's not too bad. Usually you can find a roller with a late model body for not much more than having a new body mounted will cost you. Even if you have to really go low on the price to sell your car, you'll be money ahead and have a newer car.

That said, I personally like the quality of a Hairy Glass Mustang vs the Roush Monte Carlo. Hairy does offer a Fiberglass version of the Mustang. We have to run a weight bar on Chris Foster's car to make weight with the Fiberglass version. I don't remember the weight difference. The Hairy Glass body is nice enough out of the mold that you don't have to put a bunch of filler to smooth the body up. We just wrapped it and went.

Sorry I don't have the numbers you are looking for.

Thanks for that Will. How has the fiberglass body held up after running 261mph?

Does anyone else out there know what weight would be considered a light complete alcohol body (with empty chute packs, paint, etc), and with what sort of tree (titanium or moly)?

Last hairy glass carbon body we got was 70 lbs bare. We've got a carbon firebird for sale 186 lbs with tin, tree work, paint, spoilers and windows if interested. The Monte Carlo Jeff had was 190.

145 is actually pretty darn light with wings, windows and paint. That is like pushing the envelope to "how light can we POSSIBLY make this thing."
For a very light car, expect it to be in this high 160's and a light car in the 170-180 range. Not uncommon for an older car, or a fuel car to be close to 100 over those numbers.
