I have always used Brooks rods in my blown alcohol motor. But I now find myself in possession of a new set of Venolia rods. Does anyone have any experiences good or bad with Venolia rods?

    Rods

They seem to be fine . It's like alum. rods change after 10- 15 runs Depending on Many factors. Or whatever your maintenance is. But remember, you can break anything. Don

My brother inlaw runs them in his alky funny car in Top Eliminator West 6.30 class and has not had any rod problems so far. Same with my father inlaw and they are hard on them. We use both in the Nitro Charger NFC. The rods seem to get tight at 9 and 3 oclock and after 1 race we had them resized and they have not moved since. We put 6 races (about 25 runs) on them and most runs were high 5's - 6.0's and no problems to date. Time for new rods though

As with any new rod, buy a go-no gage and check the rod bolt holes. I have found Venolia rods as well as Howards that failed the test. Never had a Brooks fail but I still check. A bad thread will let the bolt pull the threads out on a run. Ask me how I know this and how I learned to check them first.
