I have a SBC with iron eagle heads. 8 pounds of boost with alcohol and i'm running no water. The exhaust valves hit the pistons only on the passenger side head (all four). what do you think happened. I was thinking that it probably built to much heat in that head and the valves stuck down and i should of been running water though the heads.

    Bent E V

If there is minimal clearance between exhaust valve and piston, there is one side of the engine(forget which one) which will hit first due to the way the piston rocks TOWARD the valves on one side of the engine and AWAY on the other side as the piston passes TDC. It would seem like a big coincidence that all the valves in ONE head would all seize similtaneously

Did you buy the heads + block new, or used? If used check deck heights and check to see if one head was cut for whatever reason. C/C on the rods Same head gasket thickness ?Just a thought. keep us posted on results. Good luck Don

    Valve smackin'

Jim is correct! one side rocks the piston in the bore on the thrust side. However i don't believe that's what occured:rolleyes: more a chance of not enough piston to valve clearence i'd say! You DID check it did'nt you???
Guessing gets expensive after a while:D As to water through the heads... FORGET IT!!!! It's just another thing to leak and piss out everywhere!! Give the valves (especially the exhaust) a little exta clearance and don't run the engine too long, you'll be fine. I have two blown sbc's, one with iron heads (DART) the other with Racer -pro solid aluminium, and neither have had a valve issue.......YET:D

Check your piston to valve clearance, .110 ex. min. .090 in. min the more you have the less compression you will have.;)
