my personal fav was the jason cannon insidetopalcohol.com scheme... :D
King I think what Mr. One Liner wanted to say was paint jobs don't win races. Having said that here is my pics.
Teams that always have nice looking cars are
Woz
Taylor
Goodwin
Jones
Miner
Bybee
Howard
The list is endless. I personally think the Etterman car is very attractive because of its nice SIMPLE AND CLEAN look. Hell I guess that make me a fan doesn't it?

In '99 or '00 Pat Austin came to Dallas with a flat black body lettered in white. Coolist thing I ever saw. It just looked mean. Jimmy Jones also has an awsome looking car.

TAD Gunderson & Gary Turner both had some clean nice cars over the years.

Woz has always had cars with class and simplistic color. Especially the "green car."
I am partial to the old Steve Sommer cars. Classic, timeless, colorful and well kept.

This pick goes back a few years but the Tom Akers' owned "Wizard" TAFC's were nice looking cars. Also, Larry Adleman's candy apple red TAFC's from the late 70's and early 80's were clean and simple but awesome looking. Terry Mullins had some nice cars also.
I will have to get out the old scrapbook and post a few more. The alky classes have always had alot of good looking cars. One of my favorites from the late 70's and early 80's was the "Darth Vega" car run by Lee Zeinert - he had one of those swoopy '77 Vega bodies (made famous by Ken Veney) with Darth Vader's helmet painted on the side of it. This pick doesn't count because it was a nitro car, but Larry Coogle's "The Sting" Trans Am F/C from '80 or '81 was also a great looking car.

I doubt if many people ever saw the green one since it only made it to 2 races. So here is a picture.

The Evil,Wicked,Mean & Nasty car was pretty bitchin' in it's day. Also, Duane Shields always has a nice paint job on his digger. And you gotta agree with the Woz, always an awesome sight.

A few months ago Eric with the WOZ gang gave me an electric toy FC that was purchased at a "Big Lots" discount store. It was a direct copy of my green paint job taken from one of our hand-outs. It's about 1/16th scale, plays rock and roll music and the injector lights up while the rear wheels spin. Since David Peter's designs our schemes, he was considering contacting them to discuss the "rights" to the design.
I have the toy displayed next to our Wally's in my family room. I believe it was made in Taiwan. Pretty cool.

RG, how much did that Green paintjob cost? That was a sharp one, very few TAFC racers put much into paintjobs anymore.

Randy, your cars are right up there with any other TAFC's that I have seen - great color combos. Good luck at the races.
I rarely get to see color pictures of the west coast cars - can someone post some pictures on here for all of us east coasters to see?
Someone mentioned the Evil, Wicked, Mean and Nasty car and I do remember seeing a color picture in ND a while back and yes, it was cool. Who was the driver? I know he was a west coast based car but I do not remember anymore about the car.

Eric, isn't that the one Marc drove for a couple of races? The original was drivin by Harley Griffith. It was Black yellow and Orange.

Kingnitro, I saw the one that you described in ND, however, the one shown above is cool also. If I remember correctly, the one in ND was a Ford Probe.

The Black yellow and Orange Probe was bought by Mitch McDowell from Harley Griffith when he quit racing and McDowell burned it down at Pomona awhile later. Tony Vigna bought everything else Harley had and put the current car together with Harley’s old crew chief Henry Contreras. Mark drove the EWMN car at the 98 Winter Nationals and Harley drove it at a couple of division races before that.

King, That looks like it was taken at Sacramento. Their crew chief Henry sent it to me. The only picture of the Boogie Man I have is on an old Dupont Paint calendar, I’ll see if I can dig it up.

Hey, Does anybody know what happened to the alky flopper that was painted like a "Neon Cow", I think it was a Div. 7 car but I don't remember the driver/owner... And where is it today that paint was HOT, My kids REALLY liked it!!!
I think it started alot of what we're seeing now as far as paint goes.

Was the car you are talking about the "got milk?" car we last ran in 2000? It was sponsored by the Dairy Farmers of Oregon and ran in Division 6, though we strayed down to Division 7 on occasion.
My dad and I owned the car and I drove it. Garrett Bateman, runner-up at Sonoma in TAD designed the paint job and I painted it. He also designed the scheme for Gregg Lawrence's dragster which he drove, and he and I painted that, too.
I've never added pictures to one of my posts, hopefully I did it right.

So Russ, why did you get out of TAFC?
Russ Parker
08-13-2003, 08:39 AM
Not by choice. We finished #7 in the country in 2000. Unfortunately success does not always mean a renewal with a sponsor. It wasn't that the Dairy Farmers of Oregon were unhappy with us - there were some changes with the organization that led to them suspending all advertising while they re-evaluated their marketing. While they were a great sponsor, along with Centennial Batteries and some other local businesses, our own automotive shop also contributed heavily to our program. Without the dairy gang, I could not keep Centennial Batteries (and they were not ready to step up to what the dairy people had done). Rather than bleed our business (and ultimately my parents retirement) it was time to stop. It also looked (at the time) like something might open up in the fuel world, which never did happen. I'd love to get back into an alcohol funny car - just have to find a way to fund it.

That's too bad Russ, I remember at Pomona one year. You showed me the rendering for the "Got Milk" car. I think TAFC might be the only blown alky cars left in a year or two. I know of one TAD racer who's buying a TAFC and a couple more who are selling out! NHRA really killed that class!

NOBODYIKNOW,
The car your thinking of was the “Say no to drugs car” driven by Dennis Taylor and owned by Ken Head. Correct me if I'm wrong. The car is still around, but not the body. I think Ed Cook painted it, but am not sure??

i was just thinking of some of the good looking cars i've seen over the years, and one that hasn't already been mentioned was darrell russell's alky diggers in the mid to late 90's. the bright red/yellow/ and white schemes were kick ass. billy bybee's second wind cars were always cool too.

Sportsman:
You are exactly right. It was Ken Head and Jerry Crawford's car. The same car Jack Beckman is driving now, only with a newer body. It was built by the late great Kenny Mooers.
Russ:
I like milk, too. I'll never forget your dad coming into our pit area with those ice cream bars right out of the freezer. Any chance they may come back?

I always have and always will be a big consumer of dairy products whether they get back into racing or not. We had a tremendous run with them (10 years) and still keep in contact with many of them. While the focus was always on milk I always tried to expand on that. That's why I had the "say cheese" on the top of the windshield where it would normally say Pontiac or Dodge or whatever. Maybe a new angle would get them back in, any ideas?
